The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has recently published the results of the latest Broadband Statistics, a report that presents data on the rates of broadband penetration in its member countries for the period from June 2006 to June 2007.
Among the report's main conclusions, key is the growth seen in the number of broadband subscribers in the countries of the OECD - an increase of 24 per cent, to stand at 221 million. This growth also translates into an increase in the penetration rate from 15.1 to 18.1 subscribers per 100 inhabitants.
According to the OECD, broadband penetration in Portugal reached 14 accesses per 100 inhabitants, with Portugal ranking 23rd among the 30 OECD countries, just below Italy and Ireland.
