A White Paper has recently been published on ''Networked Media of the Future'', the result of the work of the European Commission's Networked Media Task Force (NM-TF) on setting out a comprehensive vision on the Networked Media of the future and the long term research challenges involved.
In the document it is pointed out that access to information is more and more of a crucial factor in the development of modern society. Furthermore, it states that, in the future, not only will all devices and multimedia content be network-enabled but also that users and providers will participate and collaborate actively in a community network. This means that all the elements of the media value chain will have a network capacity attached to them.
The White Paper sets out three key axes of future progress: true broadband, personalised media and the challenge of distributed control.
