Cooperation with São Tomé and Príncipe


Autoridade Geral de Regulação - AGER (General Authority of Regulation) of São Tomé and Príncipe held a seminar on 6 October for the country's operators and providers of telecommunication services, entitled ''Regulation - Seminar of Familiarisation''.

This initiative had the aim of publicising the actions and legislation of AGER, as well as promoting reflection on themes such as the global trends in telecommunication technologies and the consequences and challenges of next generation networks.

Of relevance to the sector in terms of telecommunications, the following legislation has been recently published in São Tomé and Príncipe: Decree-Law no. 22/2007 of 30 August, which regulates the allocation of licenses for the use of radiocommunications networks and stations; Decree-Law no. 23/2007 of 30 August, which sets up the framework models for telecommunication service tariffs; Decree-Law no. 24/2007 of 30 August, which establishes the regime for interconnection between public telecommunication networks; Decree-Law no. 25/2007 of 31 August, which approves the regulation of fees applicable to undertakings that are licensed and registered for the establishment, management and exploration of public and private telecommunications networks; Decree-Law no. 26/2007 of 31 August, which sets the fees payable in respect of the use of the radio spectrum and sets out the parameters for charging these fees; and Decree no. 27 /2007 of 4 September which allocates licences for the establishment and exploration of a fixed telephone network to Companhia Santomense de Telecomunicações (CST).
