ANACOM organises ''Regulating Convergence - Converging Regulation'' Conference

Autoridade Nacional de Comunicações (ANACOM) has scheduled a high level conference on the subject ''Regulating Convergence - Converging Regulation'', to take place in Lisbon on 28 September 2007.

Part of the programme of Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the conference is a unique opportunity for wide-ranging debate on the challenges faced by regulation and regulators.  Such challenges come from issues that include next generation network implementation and access, competition from emerging markets, the development of new business models, the possible application of new regulation institutional models, as well as radio spectrum policies. Finally, the implications of these new realities for citizens in general must not be forgotten, especially within the scope of providing the universal service of electronic communications.

A selection of key national and international figures from the sector will be participating in the conference, including representatives of national regulatory authorities (NRAs) from different countries, business leaders and academics, as well as members of relevant international organisations.

Participation in the ANACOM Conference is free of charge and open to anyone interested, although subject to the availability of places in the hall.  However participants should register in advance by completing the registration form available on this website and returning it by 26 de September 2007.
