May 17 - World Telecommunication Day will be celebrated tomorrow


World Telecommunication Day will be celebrated tomorrow, 17 May, under the theme of the communications importance for the whole world's people. This date coincides with the International Telecommunition Union (ITU) anniversary, which celebrates 138 years in the same day.

ANACOM (National Communications Authority), aware of the role carried out by telecommunications in the societies development and of the citizens access to the information and knowledge, once again joined to this celebration.

This year theme, as reported in the habitual ITU secretary-general, Yoshio Utsumi, is 'Helping all of the world's people to communicate'. To this same responsible, the need to communicate is as 'basic to humanity as its quest for prosperity and peace'.
