ANACOM re-launches Roaming Light campaign

ANACOM has re-launched, 1 July 2010, of its information campaign on international roaming, Roaming Light. The campaign was set up to make consumer aware of new rules governing the use of mobile equipment in roaming. With new prices applying across the European Union and the European Economic Area (EU/EEA), it is essential that travellers are aware of the changes before heading abroad.

The campaign was developed in 2009 by Brandia Central, and is now being reactivated in the context of the changes which take effect from today.

At www.roaminglight.net consumers are advised of the steps to be taken before travelling, and they can search for useful information about international roaming. The website also has easily accessible tools which make it easy to get  information from operators. The website will also be a useful resource for the press.

This campaign comes in the context of the approval, on 8 June 2009, by the Council of Ministers of the European Union, of amendments to Regulation No 717/2007 on roaming on the public telephone networks of the Community. These amendments comprise the phasing in of new prices to be charged by operators for voice communications, data services and text messages (SMS).
