EC releases study on ICT standardisation


The final report has been released on the study ''EU Study on the specific policy needs for ICT standardisation'' ordered by the European Commission (EC) and carried out by the company DLA Piper, in conjunction with Universidade Nova de Lisboa and Delft University of Technology. The study's objective is to analyse the current situation with regard to European policy on standardisation of information and communication technologies (ICT).

This document underlines the importance of standardisation as a tool that can support and complement various European policies, especially with respect to competition, industry, health, eLearning and eAccessibility.

The study is included in a raft of recommendations which will be considered in the future development of ICT standardisation.
