XV AICEP Forum


The Mozambique capital, Maputo, is hosting the XV Forum of the Association of Postal and Telecommunications Operators of Portuguese-speaking Countries and Territories - Associação de Operadores de Correios e Telecomunicações dos Países de Língua Oficial Portuguesa (AICEP). The forum, which is being held between 24 and 26 April, will this year focus on the subject ''Communications: new trends''.

The work of the Forum involves the analysis of new perspectives at an industry level and of telecommunications services, post and sector regulation. It will be attended by representatives of sectoral regulatory bodies, including ANACOM, university professors, sector managers, representatives of international organisations and specialist associations, as well as the managers of media, multi-media, telecommunications and postal companies.

During the course of the event, the 2006 Prize of the Portuguese Foundation for Communications (Prémio Fundação Portuguesa das Comunicações) will be presented. The 2006 prize has been awarded to José Pedro de Rodrigues Peixoto Ribeiro Cardoso of ANACOM for his work ''Management of Resources in Fixed Digital Telecommunications Services (Gestão de Recursos em Serviços Fixos Digitais de Telecomunicações)''. Two honourable mentions will also be presented. The first of these has been awarded to Helena Gaspar Martinho of ANACOM for the work ''Regulation and Competition in Electronic Communications (Regulação e Concorrência nas Comunicações Electrónicas)'', and the second to three employees of the Brazilian Corporation of Post and Telegraph - Empresa Brasileira de Correios e Telégrafos (ECT), Edilberto Nerry Petry, Takahashi de Araújo and Vanderley Soares Melo, for the work ''Technology as a factor in the Increase of Productivity in Sorting Centres for the Distribution of Traced Express Envelopes (A Tecnologia como Fator de Aumento de Produtividade em Centros de Triagem na Expedição de Envelopes Expressos Rastriados)''.
