Lisbon hosted from last 31 May to 2 June a meeting of working group PT SE 7, in charge of compatibility issues between mobile radiocommunication systems (except IMT) operating in bands below 3 GHz. This group’s agenda includes the preparation of guidelines for co-ordinating between GSM-R and existing (GSM) and future (UMTS/LTE) networks of public terrestrial mobile service. Note that some problems between UMTS and GSM-R have already been identified.
For this meeting 14 contributions were received and debated, with proposals to modify the working document. After the contributions were presented, the group focused on discussion and modification of the working document. It must nevertheless be stressed that the guidelines are still preliminary, given the notable lack of consensus among the various communities.
The next meeting is scheduled for this coming 18-20 August at the ECO offices in Denmark.
