Approval of statistical indicators on UMTS based services

By determination of 23 October 2006, the range of statistical information on UMTS based services and data services that mobile telephone service (MTS) providers need to submit to ANACOM  has been approved.

Following the launch of UMTS based services, it has been necessary to collect specific statistical information on these new offers, in order to monitor their penetration and evolution. The form adopted accordingly covers a range of indicators, comprising, namely, the number of users of UMTS services, the number of users of the mobile broadband Internet access service, traffic indicators for video calls and communications in PS mode, and also an indicator on Internet access revenues.

Service providers have been granted a 3-month period to implement these indicators, by the end of which they must submit regularly the information under consideration, that is, by no later than the 30th day of the month following the end of each quarter.

Following the entry into force of these indicators, and the elapse of the corresponding period of implementation, some indicators will be withdrawn from the form of MTS statistical indicators, in force since 7 February 2002.
