The website of the European Regulators Group (ERG) now has information on the results of its 18th meeting, which took place on 5 and 6 October 2006, in Madeira, Portugal.
During this meeting ERG announced a set of measures aiming to establish a more harmonized approach to the regulation of electronic communications markets in the European Union (EU). Thus, ERG agreed on the following actions: identification of priority areas; support to a consistent approach to regulatory “remedies”; report, explanation and monitoring of different regulatory approaches.
ERG also approved and published two reports: one regarding voice over IP and consumer issues and another on the progress in the implementation of transparency measures in the scope of the international roaming service retail tariffs.
Lastly, four public consultations were launched: on ERG’s work programme for 2007, until 13 November 2005; on principles for the implementation of best practices (PIB) regarding the capital’s weighted average cost, until 20 November 2006; on IP interconnection, until 27 November 2006; on the broadband market competition report, until 27 November 2006.
ERG’s next meeting will be held in Bratislava (Slovakia), on 7 and 8 December 2006.
