Usage fee exemption for Integrated System for Portugal's Security and Emergency Networks

Decree-Law 167/2006, published today, has brought amendments to article 19 of Decree-Law no.  151-A/2000 of 20 July, which governs the regime applicable to the licensing of radiocommunication networks and stations, the inspection of these stations and use of the radio spectrum. It also defines the principles for the application of radio fees, protection against exposure to electromagnetic radiation and the sharing of the radiocommunication infrastructure.

The amendment grants an exemption to the payment radio spectrum usage fees as set out in point 1 of Article 19. The exemption applies to organisations involved in the Integrated System for Portugal's Security and Emergency Networks (SIRESP), specifically the management body, the operator and its users within the scope of providing security and emergency services.

SIRESP is shared by various bodies, such as the Civil Protection Authority, the National Fire Service, the Armed Forces, the Portuguese Red Cross, the Forestry Directorate General, as well as others within the scope of the provision of security and emergency services.
