Commission launches consultation on on-line content

The Commission has launched a public consultation on online digital content, such as films music and games, in the internal market. The consultation's goal is to bring together opinion and so identify ways of stimulating growth in the European Union market. It is open to industry, in particular content and internet service providers, consumer organisations, regulators and all interested parties.

The Commission also intends to encourage the development of innovative business models and cross-border delivery of online content services.

The comments received during the consultation, which was opened 28 July and will run until 13 October 2006, will be used to produce a communication about online content, which is expected to be adopted at the end of the year.
