ERG - common position on remedies under consultation

The European Regulators Group (ERG) launched a public consultation on the changes to the common position regarding the application of remedies in the scope of the regulatory framework applicable to electronic communications companies identified as holders of significant market power. The decision was taken on this Group’s 15th plenary meeting, which took place in Brussels, on 24 and 25 November.

The initial version of this common position is dated April 2004, and in May this year ERG decided to review some of it.

Contributions to this consultation may be e-mailed until 13 January 2006 to the address erg-secretariat@cec.eu.int. The received contributions will be released on ERG’s website, except if stated otherwise by the interested parties.

A workshop on this public consultation will be held on 12 January 2006, in Brussels. Those interested in participating should send an e-mail to the address erg-secretariat@cec.eu.int.

The document with the conclusions of the 15th plenary meeting of the ERG is already available. Among the issues approached in this meeting, highlight goes to the report on retail tariff transparency of roaming services, the final report on voice over IP (VoIP), the work plan for 2006, the exchange of experiences regarding analysis and definition of markets, and the analysis of information from the European Commission on notifications of markets and on the next review of the regulatory framework for electronic communications (Review 2006).

Next ERG meeting will take place on 8 and 9 February 2006, in Paris.
