ANATEL/ANACOM Co-ordination Committee - 9th meeting


ANATEL/ANACOM Co-ordination Committee’s 9th meeting started today and will go on until Friday 30 September, in Fortaleza (Brazil), under the ANACOM’s institutional cooperation framework. This meeting is another privileged reunion between the Brazilian and the Portuguese sectoral regulators and is meant to exchange experiences and information on the regulation and monitoring of the electronic communications sector.

The meeting’s work plan includes the following:

- analysis of the relevant regulatory measures adopted since the last bilateral meeting (which took place on November 2004);

- analysis of the relevant regulatory measures under study or already adopted;

- impact of technological convergence on regulations;

- regulation compliance;

- mobile services market (especially IMT-2000 implementation);

- markets analysis and definition of relevant markets; and

- Internet access technologies.

Other subjects related with the deepening of cooperation are expected to be dealt with, especially in connection with the preparation of the IV Telecommunications Workshop/ Technical Meeting of the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries (CPLP), with Europe/Latin America relations (under the framework of REGULATEL) and with the co-ordination of the participation in international fora, with highlight to ITU’s (International Telecommunications Union) World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-06).
