Commission launches call for tender for study on the broadband Internet access cost

The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Information Society launched a call for tender for a study on the broadband Internet access cost that will be open until 30 September.

The study aims at providing data on the prices of broadband Internet access by Internet Service Providers and should include the markets of all European Union member States and a set of other developed countries: Norway, Iceland, Japan, Korea, Canada and the USA.

The Commission will use the results of this study to benchmark the i2010 Initiative, under the framework of the eEurope2005 Action Plan. The results will be part of the European Commission’s report to the European Parliament and Council on the transposition and implementation of the current regulatory package.
