Considering digital television and its implementation in Portugal as an issue of particular interest and complexity, a Mission Unit for Digital Television (UM-TD) was set up in June 2004 in ANACOM. Its action is related to the effective development and massification of digital television in Portugal, this process requiring a diversified and quality offer (at services, access technological platforms and equipment level), accessible to the overall population, trying to maximize the benefits of all economic agents, namely consumers.
