By decision of the General Assembly of AICEP, held in Luanda, Angola, on 19 April 2010, this institution changed its name to AICEP - Associação Internacional das Comunicações de Expressão Portuguesa (International Association of Portuguese Speaking Communications), from AICEP - Associação dos Operadores de Correios e Telecomunicações dos Países e Territórios de Língua Oficial Portuguesa (Association of Postal and Telecommunications Operators from the Portuguese-speaking Countries and Territories).
AICEP considers this change an alteration of philosophy and suitability to the future, since the association will pass from a body that got together only postal and telecommunications operators, to an institution that also integrates communications regulatory bodies, as full members, and the industry of the sector.
