Instituto Nacional de Estatística (Statistics Portugal) has released the results of its surveys on the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in households and in enterprises in 2010.
The survey aimed at households reveals that 60% of households had access to a computer at home, 54% had an Internet connection and 50% had access to a broadband connection. In the same period, 55% of individuals aged between 16 to 74 years used a computer and 51% accessed the Internet; in the group of individuals from 10 to 15 years of age, 96% used a computer and 91% accessed the Internet.
Looking at usage by enterprises, the survey indicates that 97% of enterprises with 10 or more employees used Internet; 94% had an Internet connection; 83% used Internet through a broadband connection; and 22% had made online purchases in the previous year.
