The European 112 Day was celebrated on 11 February 2011 which coincided with the 20th anniversary of the creation of the single European emergency number (ambulance, fire and police) common to the Member States (MS) of the European Union.
On this occasion, the Foundation 112, which was established to promote the use of this emergency number, alerts to the fact that 3 out of 4 Europeans are still not aware of the 112 existence as the European emergency number.
To mark this event, MS organised several actions to promote the 112 number. In some European cities, "112 human chains" will be formed while in others, famous monuments will be decorated.
