International Roaming PT meeting - Brussels

A meeting of the drafters of BEREC's International Roaming PT was held last 12 January in Brussels.

The following aspects were considered at the meeting, among others:

  • ANACOM's proposal for the project team to prepare and periodically circulate a questionnaire to gather from the Contact Network member countries information about the numbering ranges associated to roaming communications not subject to the price caps set by the regulations, specifically intra-European Union/European Economic Area roaming communications (addressed to premium rate/other communications services) whose domestic rate is more than the domestic rate for a geographical call. This action aims via BEREC's disclosure of the questionnaire's results to encourage transparency of intra EU/EEA wholesale and retail rates;

  • Discussion of matters associated to roaming regulation for the purpose of drawing up the report to submit to the European Commission in the context of revising the European regulation on the subject;

  • Approval, open to comments, of the circulation of preliminary versions of the ad hoc report and the report on alternative rates vis-à-vis the caps allowed by the regulation.

Plans call for this project team to meet again in early March.
