EC launches public consultation on the revision of the guidelines on broadband networks - State aid


The European Commission (EC) launched a public consultation, running until 31 August 2011, on the revision of the guidelines for the application of EU rules on state aid of public financing of broadband networks. The target audiences for this consultation are member states, public authorities, of electronic communication operators and investors in broadband networks.

The revision should reflect the principal evolutions from the standpoint of the market, as well as technological and regulatory developments.

Based on opinions received, the Commission shall submit to public consultation in early 2012 a revised text of the Guidelines in view of its adoption no later than 30 September 2012, in accordance with the final provisions of the guidelines.
