Portugal DTT Guide distributed nationwide

From 27 October, ANACOM will be distributing six million copies of its Guia TDT (DTT Guide) to all homes in Portugal. By distributing this special guide, ANACOM is ensuring that information on the transition from analogue to digital television reaches all Portuguese families and commercial establishments, so that the steps needed to make the required changes can be taken in good time.

The 12-page DTT Guide provides concise and clear information on all the steps necessary for the migration to digital television.  It will be distributed over five days by CTT – Correios de Portugal in all parts of Mainland Portugal and in the Autonomous Regions of Madeira and the Azores.

The analogue television signal in Portugal will be switched off, first of all in coastal areas on 12 January, in Madeira and the Azores on 22 March and finally in the interior areas of the country on 26 April.

Analogue television has already been successfully switched off in three pilot zones: Alenquer, Cacém and Nazaré/Alcobaça, and in all cases only very few people were left temporarily without television.  These pilots have made it possible to test the technical, market and communication conditions, demonstrating that the transition to DTT can be accomplished successfully and without causing disruptions.
