45th plenary meeting - Montreux

The 45th plenary meeting of the European Committee for Postal Regulation (CERP) of the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT) was held last 27 October in Montreux, Switzerland.

The new CERP framework and mandate resulting from the transfer of postal regulation matters to the European Regulators Group for Postal Services (ERGP) under the European Commission (EC) aegis has caused CERP's agenda to shift toward work and activities carried out within the Universal Postal Union (UPU). The main topic for discussion at this plenary meeting, along with CERP's reorganisation, was the preparation of European co-ordination for the upcoming 25th UPU Congress (September 2012 in Doha, Qatar).

UPU reform and revision of the terminal charges system were among the issues dealt with at the usual CERP forum, which in this plenary gathering focused on the theme topic of "main interests of European ministers and regulators at the Doha Congress and possible proposals to develop".

The next CERP plenary meeting will be held on 24-25 May 2012 in Belgrade, Serbia.
