One thousand people have received training at ITU Centre of Excellence in Africa

Debora Santos, from Cape Verde, has become the 1000th person to receive training at the Centre of Excellence run by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Africa, a project for Portuguese and Spanish-speaking countries that has been operating since 2009.  Ms. Santos took part in a workshop on 'Tariffs and Costs', held between  28 November and 2 December 2011 in Cape Verde.

The Centre of Excellence runs training programmes in priority areas, such as telecommunications regulation and policy, new services and technologies; business management, universal service and development of information and communication technologies (ICT) in rural areas, thereby contributing to the enhanced autonomy of the communications sector in beneficiary countries (Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, San Tome and Príncipe and Equatorial Guinea).
