ANACOM meets with municipal associations to prepare DTT transition

ANACOM has been meeting with mayors to prepare the last phase of the switch-off plan of the analogue television signal scheduled for 26 April. On that day, the switch-off will occur in the 148 municipalities still receiving the signal, with which ANACOM has been meeting to provide information and monitor the transition process.

Meetings were held with the Associação de Municípios do Baixo Tâmega (Municipal Association of Lower Tâmega), Comunidade Intermunicipal (Inter-municipal Communities) of Vale do Cávado) and Minho-Lima, covering 22 municipalities: Amarante, Baião, Cabeceiras de Basto, Celorico de Basto, Mondim de Basto, Amares, Barcelos, Vila Verde, Terras do Bouro, Braga, Esposende, Arcos de Valdevez, Caminha, Melgaço, Monção, Paredes de Coura, Ponte da Barca, Ponte de Lima, Valença, Viana do Castelo and Vila Nova de Cerveira.

This close contact has been made, whenever possible, using municipal associations, in an attempt to reach all municipalities throughout the country and to promote its involvement in this process, as local entities that have close contact with its population are essential to support them during the transition period and vital for its successful progress.

Besides the associations mentioned above, ANACOM has already met with the Inter-municipal Community of Pinhal Interior North, Municipal Associations of Terra Quente Transmontana, Lower and Coastal Alentejo, with the Inter-municipal Community of Algarve, Municipal Association of Algarve and with the Inter-municipal Community of Upper Alentejo. Additionally, there were also numerous individual meetings held with municipalities and parish councils, both on the continent and in the autonomous regions. In total, there were over 100 municipalities covered in this round of contacts. The goal is to speak with all municipalities making the transition to digital television until 26 April, to provide information, answer questions and monitor the transition process.
