The Universal Postal Union (UPU) headquarters in Berne, Switzerland, served as venue for the most recent meetings of the two Union councils before the 25th Congress, scheduled for this coming 24 September to 15 October in Doha, Qatar. The Postal Operations Council (POC) held a plenary meeting last 23-24 February, followed by a week of meetings of the Council of Administration (CA) from 27 February to 2 March, which included gatherings of the Union Reform Project Group, the Interconnection Project Group and, lastly, the plenary session.
Beyond the presentation of activity reports from the various POC groups and committees, some including proposals to submit to the 25th UPU Congress, the POC plenary meeting also took note of recent preparations for the Congress and of documents and proposals from the CA groups which will finally be approved by that Council. These include proposals concerning the World Postal Strategy, whose latest document version was completed during this joint session, as well as documents and proposals for UPU Reform, also subject to a decision from the CA.
