"Write a letter to an athlete or sports figure you admire to explain what the Olympic Games mean to you" - this was the theme of the Universal Postal Union's (UPU) 2012 letter-writing competition, which in Portugal is being organised jointly by Autoridade Nacional de Comunicações (ANACOM) and CTT - Correios de Portugal.
From a total of 406 letters received, the following winners have been announced:
- 1st category (9-11 years): Daniela Júnior Reis, Pessegueiro do Vale, Santa Maria da Feira;
- 2nd category (12-15 years): Ana Inês Amorim Marques, Guimarães.
The winning letter from the second category will go on to represent Portugal in the UPU's International letter-writing competition.
