ITU Centre of Excellence - Training programme for trainers

The third training programme to take place at the Center of Excellence (COE) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) on 'Training of Trainers' will be held from 28 May to 1 June, in Maputo, Mozambique. The programme is based on the implementation of an e-learning model (electronic-learning).

The programme, with is targeted at participants already identified with issues of education and training, aims to provide them with skills and knowledge to develop distance learning modules, integrated into learning paths, education methodologies and technologies and their management.

The programme is a key part of the launch of a platform under the ITU's CoE Project, in the specific case of the Spanish and Portuguese language community of Africa and East Timor, focusing on some thirty training workshops already undertaken since 2009 among the cities of Praia, S. Tomé, Maputo, Malabo, Bissau and Luanda, culminating in the construction of a new ITU Academy website, which will support activities to be developed at the CoE in the Spanish and Portuguese language countries of Africa. The platform will be based on the operation of various ITU servers, especially the content management system whose server is located in Mozambique, with access provided to the other countries involved.

The occasion will be honoured by ministerial inauguration, in parallel with the scheduled training programme, with the presence of representatives of the Government of Mozambique and the Mozambican sector regulator, INCM - Instituto das Comunicações de Moçambique (Mozambique Communications Institute), as well as representative from the Maputo embassies of Portugal and Spain.
