DTT - Draft decision on network evolution

By determination of 8 March 2013, ANACOM approved the report on the public consultation on scenarios for the evolution of the digital terrestrial television (DTT) network, launched by this Authority on 18 January 2013, which presents a summary of the 67 contributions received, as well as this Authority’s views on the issues raised.

In order to find a better compromise solution between the quality of service provided by the network, spectral efficiency and impact on the population, ANACOM considers that the DTT network configuration should evolve to a multi-frequency network (MFN) made up of small single frequency networks (SFN/MFN).

In this context, the draft decision on the DTT network evolution was also approved, and submitted to the prior hearing of PT Comunicações as well as to the general consultation procedure. In both cases, a period of 20 working days has been provided for interested parties to comment. Responses must thus be sent by 9 April 2013, preferably by email to the address spd.tdt@anacom.ptmailto:spd.tdt@anacom.pt 1.

Once the consultation process has been concluded, contributions received will be publicly disclosed, whereby interested parties should also submit a version excluding items considered confidential for the purposes of publication on this website.

This draft decision was also notified to the Entidade Reguladora para a Comunicação Social (ERC), for the purpose of article 14 of the Television Law.
