Executive Committee and working groups - Cartagena

The Regulatel Executive Committee and working groups met last 10-12 March in Cartagena, Colombia.

Coordinated by Argentina’s sector regulator, the Comisión Nacional de Comunicaciones (CNC), which this year holds the Regulatel presidency, the Executive Committee examined the proposal for institutional cooperation in the framework of the United Nations Conference for Trade and Development (UNCTAD) programme for Competition and Consumer Protection Policies for Latin America (COMPAL). Regulatel’s new website and logo were also considered. The current status of financial support from the European Commission (EC) was also reviewed, and agreement was reached to set up a small ad hoc group to analyse the ITU’s proposal regarding the fund to create to manage contributions from members and other bodies to support Regulatel activities.

Also noteworthy were the examination of new membership requests and presentation of the new version of the Forum’s rules of procedure and the decision on Regulatel’s participation in the Global Symposium of Regulators (GSR) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and in the ITU’s World Telecommunications Development Conference (WTDC).

The working groups on Roaming, Net Neutrality and User Rights and Quality of Service approved the respective activity plans to be carried out this year.

The next (extraordinary) plenary meeting will be held this coming 21-22 July in Buenos Aires, when the Regulatel/BEREC summit also takes place. The next (ordinary) plenary meeting will be held in Puerto Rico in November.
