CLC/TC 46X, TC 46XA and TC 46XC meeting - Lisbon

Lisbon hosted last 17-18 June a meeting of Technical Committee 46X, 46XA and 46XC in the scope of cables, wires and waveguides for CENELEC telecommunications equipment. As the sector standardisation body for communications (electronic and postal service) and electromagnetic compatibility, ANACOM supported the holding of this international meeting as a way to boost national participation in the construction of standards and to encourage their adoption.

The national delegation included a representative from ANACOM, a member of National Technical Committee 46 (CTE 46).

This meeting focused on the evolution of several technical standards, some with impact on the manual for telecommunications infrastructures in buildings (ITED), specifically EN 50173 and EN 50174.

The group members were alerted about the future modification of materials used to assemble cables through redefinition of the parameters in manufacturing standards.

To accompany the technological progress liaison will be established with the International Electrotecnical Commission (IEC) group responsible for intelligent networks and their interfaces, to thereby assure that cable standards are in line with those systems’ needs.
