/ Updated on 24.01.2008

The tender committee responsible for analysing bids to the Digital Terrestrial Television network operator have concluded their appraisal. The appraisal report, including the provisional list classifying the bidders, was communicated to the bidders and the Minister of Social Equipment. The bidder, PTDP - Plataforma de Televisão Digital Portuguesa, is classified in first place and the bidder, Oni Plataformas - Infocomunicações, in second place.

The bidders now have ten days in which to present suggestions or make an appeal. At the end of this period, after hearing the committee, the Government will decide on the grant of a license to the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) network operator.

DTT is a new television signal distribution network, that will substitute the present analogue network, enabling significant improvements in reception quality, the introduction of more channels and provision of advanced television and telecommunications services, including broadband services, with specific functions of interactive television.
