European Commission 2015 Work Programme

The 2015 Work Programme of the European Commission (EC), headed since November 2014 by Jean-Claude Juncker, defines 23 initiatives for 2015 in 10 priority policy areas, promoting job creation, economic growth and investment.

One of these priorities is the creation of a digital single market, which, in the words of President Juncker, may "create up to 250 billion euros in additional growth". Along these lines, the Commission intends to pursue the development of the market in terms of reformed telecoms rules, data protection, copyright and consumer rights. The Commission also plans to make it easier for innovators to start their own companies and to boost digital skills and learning.
