Amendment to the right of use of frequencies allocated to Vodafone for terrestrial electronic communications services - consultation

On 18 June 2015, ANACOM approved a draft decision on amending the right of use of frequencies in the 2100 MHz band for provision of terrestrial electronic communication services, allocated to Vodafone Portugal - Comunicações Pessoais (Vodafone).  This follows a request that the right's expiration be revised from 11 January 2016 to 5 May 2018.

Seeing that there is no reason to treat NOS and MEO differently, if these companies also see fit to present requests to extend the validity of their rights of use of frequencies, these requests will be decided on the same basis, according to the date on which operation of the respective UMTS systems commenced.

This draft decision has been submitted to a prior hearing of interested parties (VodafoneMEO and NOS) under the Código de Procedimento Administrativo (Administrative Proceeding Code), as well as to the general consultation procedure laid down in article 8 of Lei das Comunicações Eletrónicas (Electronic Communications Lawhttps://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?categoryId=333114).  In both cases, interested parties are given a period of 20 working days to comment, so that responses to the consultation are to be submitted on later than 20 July 2015, sent by email to alteracao.duf.vodafone@anacom.pt1.
