Workshop and Senior Officials Meeting - Brussels

In the scope of the European Eastern Partnership (EaP), a workshop on the digital economy and the Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) were held in Brussels last 6 and 7 May, respectively. The events were attended by representatives from the six EaP countries (Georgia, Armenia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Moldova) and from the European Union (EU) member countries and the European Commission (EC).

The two events were meant to consolidate conclusions of the analysis work done by consultants at the EC’s request regarding the current status of the digital economy in the EaP countries. The aim was to identify priorities, opportunities and initiatives to promote in the framework of future programmes, bearing in mind the EU’s 6 May presentation of the strategy for the digital single market.

For its part, the SOM helped prepare the EU/EaP ministerial meeting on Digital Economy (to be held in Luxembourg on 11 June 2015), based on the proposed ministerial declaration prepared by the EC.
