Commission conducts review of European Union regulatory framework for electronic communications

As part of its strategy for a Digital Single Market (approved on 6 May 2015), the European Commission (EC) is conducting a 360° review of the regulatory framework for electronic communications, in order to ascertain the need for changes in the light of new technological and market challenges.

The Commission also asked the Body of European Regulators of Electronic Communications (BEREC) for a set of data on the application of the current regulatory framework and sought the Body's opinion as to the need for reforms.

In September, the EC will also launch a public consultation, which will run for a period of 12 weeks.
