As at the end of 2nd quarter 2015 (2Q15), there were 3.1 million subscribers to bundled offers in Portugal, representing an increase of 2.6% from the previous quarter and 12.7% over the same quarter of 2014 (2Q14). Quintuple-play (5P) was the combination reporting the most growth (increasing 5.5% over 1st quarter 2015 and increasing 99% compared to 2nd quarter 2014). Triple-play remains the most common combination (42.5%) in 2Q15, decreasing 0.9% versus the previous quarter and 14% versus 2Q14.
In large part, the growth in 5P stems from the launch, at the end of 2Q14 and during 3Q14 , of new offers that include mobile services, especially: "4P bundles" priced at around 50 euros which include the fixed telephone service (STF), fixed broadband (FBB), subscription TV (STV), the mobile telephone service (MTS) and mobile phone Internet access (with the possibility of including up to four mobile users in the bundle); and "5P bundles", which additionally include mobile broadband (MBB) using cards/modems.
The reported increases also stem from upgrades to bundles with fewer services or upgrades to single-play offers.
Besides, the FTS+FBB+STV combination, with 1.3 million subscribers, and 5P, which, in addition to these services, includes the mobile telephone service and mobile broadband (FBB+FTS+STV+MTS+MBB), with 1.1 million subscribers, the third most popular combination was double-play, combining the fixed telephone service with subscription television (336 thousand subscribers).
Bundled services generated revenues of about 737 million euros in the year up to the end of 2Q15, with average monthly revenue in the quarter reported at 40.48 euros per subscriber. Grupo Altice reported a share of 51.8% of the turnover derived from these services, followed by Grupo NOS (37.7%). According to Marktest's Barómetro de Telecomunicações (Telecommunications Barometer), during 2Q15, the average monthly bill of households with bundled offers was 51.21 euros including VAT, 3% more than as reported for the same period of 2014.
In terms of subscribers, Grupo Altice is the provider with the largest market share in 2Q15 (48.8%), followed by Grupo NOS (38.8%) and Vodafone (12.4%). Grupo Altice leads in terms of double-play combinations, triple-play and 5P, while Grupo NOS leads in quadruple-play.
