The Instituto da Comunicação Social (Institute for the Media - ICS) and Instituto das Comunicações de Portugal (Portuguese Communications Institute - ICP) are jointly organising a European Conference on Digital Terrestrial Television (DVB-T) on February 17 and 18, in the Hotel Le Meridien Park Atlantic, in Lisbon.
The event aims to trace certain guidelines for DVB-T implementation strategies in Europe, expand our knowledge of the technology's characteristics and the services it offers, forecast the impact of digital terrestrial television in key areas and define the need and potential to establish a European policy for digital terrestrial television.
Attendances confirmed include representatives from the European Commission, European Broadcasting Union (EBU/UER), Suomen Digi-TV Forum (Finland), Television, Cable and Satellite (Portugal), Portugal Telecom, Office Fédéral de la Communication (Switzerland), Groupe de Travail des Administrations sur le DVB-T (France), BMWi - Federal Ministry of Economics (Germany) and Teracom (Sweden). A complete list of conference speakers and other participants will be provided shortly.
The discussion will be divided into three specific areas, each covered by a separate working group: Technological and Market Aspects of DVB-T (Group 1); Implementation Models and Public-Interest Objectives (Group 2) and Community Initiatives and Policies (Group 3).
