Public Consultations contributing to the Digital Single Market Strategy

In the context of the Digital Single Market Strategy, the European Commission has launched public consultations on the future of the regulatory framework for electronic communications and on the needs for Internet speed and quality beyond 2020. The consultations opened on 11 September and close on 7 December 2015.

The consultation on the future of the regulatory framework for electronic communications has been launched to gather input for the evaluation process in order to assess the current rules and to seek views on possible adaptations to the framework in light of market and technological developments.

On the other hand, the consultation on needs for Internet speed and quality seeks to anticipate the needs of fixed and mobile digital networks beyond 2020, so that public policies can be formulated to develop networks which are prepared for the future and in order to guarantee that all users can take advantage of the digital economy and society.
