13th International Conference: expanding broadband access adoption - Budva

The 13th International Conference was held last 28-29 September in Budva, Montenegro, focusing on the theme of “expanding broadband access adoption”. It was organised jointly by the ITU and EKIP (Montenegro’s regulatory authority).

ANACOM’s participation in this conference was in accordance with its participation in regional activities sponsored by the ITU Development Sector (ITU-D), whereby ANACOM has taken on the commitment to share its policies and practices regarding access to infrastructures and broadband services.

The framework governing telecommunications infrastructures in buildings and in housing estates, urban developments and groups of buildings (ITED-ITUR) was put forward at the conference as a Portuguese case study. The presentation given by ANACOM national expert Nuno Castro Luís raised a great deal of interest among the audience, with several questions asked, namely concerning how the system is viewed by different stakeholders. The ITED-ITUR system was also praised by other conference participants.

Note that ANACOM also took part in the event’s welcome session, given the recent appointment of Manuel da Costa Cabral as chair of the CEPT Committee for ITU Policy (Com-ITU).
