DTT - Conclusions of the investigation into the costs and revenues of the service provided by MEO

On 17 November 2015, ANACOM approved the final decision on the conclusions of the thorough investigation conducted into the costs and revenues of the digital terrestrial television service (DTT) provided by MEO - Serviços de Comunicações e Multimédia (MEO).

It was found, in particular, that, in view of the costs reported for 2013, the prices which MEO currently charges television operators for the DTT service are not excessive.

It was also decided to recommend to MEO, notwithstanding the results of an analysis of market 18 (wholesale broadcasting market for delivery of content to end-users) where it operates the DTT service, that it undertake an assessment of its pricing, upon its own initiative, in the event that the free capacity on MUX A is taken up or where costs fall by an amount that would justify a reduction in prices.

Approval was also given to the report on the prior hearing and public consultation to which the corresponding draft decision was submitted (draft decision approved on 22 July 2015.
