NN EWG meeting - Brussels

The BEREC expert working group on Net Neutrality (NN EWG) met last 6-8 and 28 October at the offices of the Independent Regulators Group (IRG) secretariat in Brussels. The meetings focused on the following topics:

  • study of the viability of a common European system to monitor the quality of service of internet access service;
  • preparation of a guide to inform regulators about aspects associated to net neutrality envisaged in the proposed European regulation (telecoms single market (TSM)).

Regarding the first item the work was completed, whereby the document will be submitted for approval at the next BEREC plenary meeting in December. Because it is a BEREC internal document this study will not be published.

Regarding the second item, the work focused on preparing for a November meeting with representatives of internet access service providers (ISPs), content and application providers (CAPs) and consumers to learn their views on TSM as well as their opinions about a number of NN-related questions drawn up by this group’s drafters.
