The SIC - Sistema de Informação Centralizado (Centralised Information System), the reference platform for up-to-date information on infrastructure suitable for carrying electronic communications networks in Portugal, has been made available by ANACOM from 14 January 2016.
In particular, the SIC comprises the following items for planning and land use:
- a register with comprehensive and geo-referenced information on infrastructure suitable for carrying electronic communications networks;
- information on procedures and conditions governing access to and use of infrastructure suitable for carrying electronic communications networks;
- announcements of plans to construct new ducts and other infrastructure suitable for carrying electronic communications networks;
- information on procedures and conditions governing the allocation of rights of way for the construction of infrastructure suitable for carrying electronic communications networks.
The SIC is only accessible to entities which comply with the obligations required for the inclusion of information in the system, such as state bodies, autonomous regions, local authorities, government-supervised entities, state companies and concessionaires, electronic communications companies and sector regulators.
It is ANACOM's responsibility to manage, maintain and guarantee the SIC's accessibility and availability, as under Decree-Law no. 123/2009, of 21 Mayhttps://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=975261. The information contained in SIC is binding upon the undertakings responsible for its production and availability; these undertakings are also responsible for ensuring that this information is kept up-to-date at all times.
