ECC WG SE PT7 - Copenhagen

Copenhagen hosted last 12-14 January a meeting of project team 7 of the Spectrum Engineering Group (PT7 SE), responsible for issues associated to mobile service, which was attended by about 27 participants, including observers from the European Communications Office and representatives from industry and/or operators: the Association of Professional Wireless Production Technologies, ASP, Bolt&Yurdal Consulting ApS, CRAF, DFS Germany, Dutchview, Ericsson, IRT, International Maritime Satellite Organisation (INMARSAT), RRT, Sennheiser UK, Swedish Transport Agency and TeliaSonera.

The following documents were discussed and analysed after the respective consultation phase:

  • Draft ECC Report 243 on Wireless video links in the frequency bands 2700-2900 and 2900-3400 MHz (task SE7_20);
  • Draft ECC Report 245 on compatibility studies between PMSE and other systems/services in the band 1350-1400 MHz (task SE7_24).

Regarding the task (SE7_21) concerning the introduction of programme making and special events (PMSE) equipment in the 1495-1525 MHz band, the group considered several contributions with a view to completing the report and presenting it to the Spectrum Engineering working group (WG SE) at the next meeting. However, the many points still open, e.g. different premises between various studies and last-minute contributions due to allocation of the 1427-1452 MHz and 1492-1518 MHz frequency bands, may make approval of this report unviable, as only 7 MHz will remain for possible PMSE allocation (without considering an eventual guard band).

The next PT7 SE meeting will be held this coming 30 March and 1 April in Copenhagen (subject to confirmation).
