The exhibition ''The submarine cable in a sea of connectivity'', promoted by ANACOM and coordinated by FPC - Fundação Portuguesa das Comunicações (Portuguese Communications Foundation) has been distinguished by Associação Portuguesa de Museologia (Portuguese Museology Association). The exhibition which showcases the role of the submarine cable in electromagnetic communications over the last 150 years has been jointly awarded the Best Exhibition Prize, in ex aequo with the exhibition “Jóias da Carreira da Índia” patent at Fundação do Oriente.
The exhibition, which is granted the High Patronage of His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Portugal, was inaugurated by FPC on 18 May 2015 (World Telecommunications and Information Society Day) to mark the 150th anniversary of the ITU. The exhibition enjoys Institutional Support from the Regional Government of the Azores, Portuguese Navy, Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (Foundation for Science and Technology), PT Portugal, CTT - Correios de Portugal.
Given high levels of interest and the present relevance of submarine cable systems in the context of modern management of electronic communications networks, the exhibition has been renewed and extended until the end of April 2017.
