The first meeting of the expert group on the International Telecommunication Regulations (EG-ITR) was held last 9-10 February in Geneva, where some initial contributions were discussed.
Some of those contributions stressed that the ITRs are not a necessary tool in the current context of competitiveness among international telecommunication services, while others held an opposite view and included the need for inclusion of various new themes in revised ITRs.
The next meeting of EG-ITR should be held in September 2017, though still subject to confirmation by the 2017 Council session.
