Bundles of services gain 245 thousand subscribers in one year


At the end of first quarter 2017, 87 out of 100 households in Portugal had a bundle of electronic communications services. The number of subscribers to such offers reached 3.55 million (35 thousand more than in the previous quarter and 245 thousand more than the same quarter of 2016).

In terms of combinations, the most popular bundled offer continued to be the quintuple-play offer (FBB+FTS+STV+MTS+MBB), with 1.47 million subscribers (41.3%), followed by the FTS+FBB+STV triple-play offer, with 1.46 million subscribers (41%). The trend in the number of subscribers to bundled services stems from the increase in triple-play bundles (+36 thousand subscribers) and quintuple-play bundles (+25 thousand subscribers).

In the first quarter, revenues from bundles of services totalled 440 million euros (increasing by 6% compared to the same period of 2016). Average monthly revenue per subscriber was reported at 41.57 euros (falling 1.6% versus the same period of 2016).

Grupo NOS reported the largest share of subscribers for the first time this quarter (39.4%), followed by MEO (39.2%) and Vodafone (16.4%); Vodafone was the provider which grew the most during the quarter. Grupo Apax had a share of 5%. In terms of revenues, MEO had a share of 41.8%, followed by Grupo NOS with 39.9%, Vodafone with 14.2% and Grupo Apax with 4%.

Finally, Grupo NOS were market leaders in terms of triple and quadruple-play combinations, while MEO led in terms of double and quintuple-play bundles, both in terms of subscribers and in terms of revenues.
