Geneva hosted last 9-12 May the 22nd meeting of the ITU’s TDAG. The meeting was the last one before the 2017 World Telecommunication Conference (WTDC-17), to be held on 9-20 October in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires, focusing on the topic of ‘ICTs for sustainable development goals’.
The main goal of this TDAG meeting was to finish preparations for WTDC-17, specifically putting forward the following for the participants’ consideration:
- the WTDC-17 preliminary declaration, which highlights the essential role played by information and communication technologies in achieving the targets set by the sustainable development goals and the importance of supporting sustainable development;
- the structure and organisation of WTDC-17;
- the action plan of the Telecommunication Development Sector (ITU-D) and its integration in the Union’s operational and strategy plan for 2020-2023.
The next TDAG meeting is scheduled for 20-23 March 2018.
