74th meeting of the Committee on Digital Economy Policy - May 2017

The 74th meeting of the OECD’s CDEP took place last 17-19 May in Paris, where the Portuguese delegation was represented by the Foundation for Science and Technology and by ANACOM. A restricted session was notably held with official representatives of the member countries of the OECD and of the European Union (EU), focusing on the current status of the applications by Lithuania and Costa Rica to join the OECD.

Regarding the transversal project on digitalisation of the economy, led by the Directorate for Science, Technology and Innovation, the aim is to produce a report that can be presented during the Council of Ministers meeting in 2018.

The secretariat presented the proposed “Digital Economy Outlook” publication. Plans call for it to be officially launched in Seoul, South Korea, this coming 10-11 October.

The Committee also approved the CDEP working methods and respective working groups.

Lastly, the Japanese delegation gave a presentation on artificial intelligence, indicating that a joint OECD/Japan forum on that subject would be held on 26-27 October 2017 in Paris.

The next CDEP meeting will be held in Paris. The provisional dates for the 75th and 76th CDEP meetings are respectively 21-22 November 2017 and 16-18 May 2018.
